Step by step
- 1. Pick the right size. 8mm for regular cigarettes, 6mm for slim. A snug fit prevents air leaks - see 8mm vs 6mm.
- 2. Insert the cigarette. Push the cigarette into the wider end of the filter (or the adapter), a few millimetres in.
- 3. Smoke as usual. Draw through the filter end - it does the filtering.
- 4. Replace when needed. Swap the filter every 3 to 6 cigarettes once the draw tightens - see cigarettes per filter.
Using filters with hand-rolled cigarettes
For roll-your-own, roll the cigarette as normal and insert it into the filter's wide end. If you switch between regular and slim, choose a brand that ships adapters. More in filters for rolling tobacco.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Wrong size (leaks air and weakens the draw).
- Pushing the cigarette in too far.
- Keeping a saturated filter too long.
